UNM academic wins international special award for his work on palm oil research

University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) academic Professor Ir Ts Dr Show Pau Loke was selected as the winner for the Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Augustine S H Ong International Special Award on Innovations and Inventions in Palm Oil on 25 May 2021.

This award was conferred to him by the Malaysian Oil Scientists’ and Technologists’ Association (MOSTA) for this work on application of microalgae in palm oil research.

Professor Ir Ts Show is a professor of chemical and environmental engineering at the University and is also the director of Sustainable Food Processing Research Centre and co-director of Future Food Malaysia Beacon of Excellent in UNM.

The Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Augustine S H Ong International Special Award on Innovations and Inventions in Palm Oil recognises those who have contributed significantly to the innovations and inventions in the palm oil industry both locally and internationally.

The award is named after Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Augustine S H Ong, an academician and the President of MOSTA, who has worked tirelessly in the advocacy and promotion of Malaysian palm oil to the world.

Together with the award Professor Ir Ts Show receives a certificate, a Life Membership to MOSTA and a complimentary ticket to attend the Oils and Fats International Congress, which is expected to take place on 15 and 16 June 2021 in Kuala Lumpur.

“I would like to thank MOSTA for selecting me as the winner of the Tan Sri Emeritus Professor Augustine S H Ong International Special Award on Innovations and Inventions in Palm Oil. This award is an important recognition to me as a scientist for the application of microalgae technology in palm oil research,” said Professor Ir Ts Show on winning the award.
