OUR ACHIEVEMENTS AND MILESTONES
1990 Established as Kolej Swasta Bandar Utama (KSBU) in 6 units of 4-storey shop-offices in Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Franchised UK Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes from Nottingham Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University) and Anglia Polytechnic (now Anglia Ruskin University) with agreement for our successful students to enrol into the final year of their relevant honours degree programmes.
1992 Franchised HND programmes from The London Institute (now University of the Arts, London) with agreement for our successful students to enrol into the final year of their relevant honours degree programmes.
1993 Renamed as Kolej Bandar Utama (KBU).
1995 Relocated to purpose-built campus (Phase 1) in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
1998 Granted approval by Malaysia Ministry of Education to conduct franchised UK degree programmes from Nottingham Trent University and Anglia Ruskin University.
2002 Renamed as KBU International College.
2005 Received “Excellence in Student Internationalisation” Award from Ministry of Education Malaysia. Franchised BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronic Engineering programme from Sheffield Hallam University, UK for delivery at KBU.
2008 Signed agreement with IBM to train students on IBM Systems for mainframe computers.
2010 Franchised MBA programme from Anglia Ruskin University, UK for delivery at KBU.
2011 Rated 5-star education provider by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia Franchised BSc (Hons) Computer & Network Engineering Programme from Sheffield Hallam University, UK for delivery at KBU.
2012 Signed agreement with Hotel & Tourism Management Institute Switzerland for award of their Diploma to KBU students who successfully completed our Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management programme.
2013 Commenced expansion of campus with new academic and administration block, and on-campus air-conditioned en-suite student accommodation.
2014 Elevated to University College status with degree awarding powers by the Ministry of Higher Education and renamed as First City University College (First City UC).
2017 Completed expansion of campus.
Anglia Ruskin University, UK recognised our BA (Hons) programmes in Marketing, Accounting & Finance and Business Management for award of their respective degrees to our graduates.
Manchester Metropolitan University, UK recognised our BA (Hons) programmes in Graphic Design, Interior Architecture Design and Furniture & Product Design for award of their respective honours degrees to our graduates.
2019 Teesside University, UK recognised our BSc (Hons) programmes in Computer Science (Cybersecurity), Computer Science (Intelligence Systems), Computer Science (Software Engineering) and Information Systems (Business Management) for award of their respective honours degrees to our graduates.
2020 ACCA, UK recognised our BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance by granting exemption from 9 papers for the ACCA Professional Examinations
2021 Signed agreement with Estream MSC Sdn. Bhd. to train First City UC’s business programme students in the use of the industry relevant SQL Accounting Software.
Signed agreement with Integrated Design & Build Sdn. Bhd. to train First City UC’s Hospitality & Tourism Management students in the use of the industry relevant Property Management Software (PMS).
