Governors State University (GSU) is situated in University Park, Illinois, and offers over 60 degree programs in technology, business, industry, healthcare, the arts, and education. The university prides itself on small class sizes of just 18 students in the first year of study, allowing all students to benefit from plenty of support and individual contact time from the teaching staff during classes.

GSU's facilities include a state-of-the-art fitness center complete with an Olympic-style lap pool, a modern gym, sports courts, and a great selection of exercise machines. There is also a visual arts gallery, computer labs, nursing labs and a Center of Performing Arts which was named as the best in the region.

During their time studying, students have access to GSU’s Career Services Office, which provides help and support with all stages of gaining employment, from finding an internship or work placement to writing a resume and cover letter. Other services available to students includes support for disabled students, a childcare center and a confidential counselling service.

There are over 70 clubs and societies available for students to join at GSU, which range from sports teams to a dance club and a student newspaper. The student newspaper gives aspiring journalists and editors the opportunity to gain relevant experience to add to their CV. Students can also get involved with volunteering and leadership initiatives to give something back to the community.

Students are encouraged to spend some of their semester in another country to gain cultural experiences and become a global citizen. GSU offers a range of programs that aim to match the interest of individual students so that it is possible for everyone to have this opportunity.
