Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), originally established itself as a Mechanics Institute in 1823. The university is named in honour of Sir John Moores, a true visionary and shrewd successful businessman, who was founded in 1923 and headed until 1982. The university comprises three campuses namely the City Campus, IM Marsh Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus, with over 20,000 students and 200 undergraduate courses to choose from. The School houses its own Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES) where 97% of its research activity is rated world-leading or internationally excellent.  



LJMU is ranked number 70 in the UK in Guardian League Table 2021

Engineering related courses are within the top 400 in Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2021 

95% of students are in work or further study within six months after graduating (Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education 2016/17)

The university is ranked 3rd for research in the University Alliance Group (Research Excellence Framework 2014)

Over 200 LJMU graduate start-up firms are established in the Liverpool city region
