Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), originally established itself as a Mechanics Institute in 1823. The university is named in honour of Sir John Moores, a true visionary and shrewd successful businessman, who was founded in 1923 and headed until 1982.
The university comprises three campuses namely the City Campus, IM Marsh Campus and Mount Pleasant Campus, with over 20,000 students and 200 undergraduate courses to choose from. The School houses its own Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES) where 97% of its research activity is rated world-leading or internationally excellent.
