Loyalist College offers the only specialized program for survey technicians in Ontario. Survey engineering technicians assist in determining locations of improvements and property boundaries for a variety of employers including land surveyors, construction companies, government agencies and mining and resource exploration.

Surveying is the foundation of most engineering projects. You might be involved in:
• Pre-engineering surveys, laying out proposed structures and locating existing improvements.
• Assisting an Ontario Land Surveyor in locating property boundaries.
• Gathering data for use in Geographic Information Systems.
Experiential learning
• Learning combines classroom instruction and practical field exercises.
• Get hands-on experience using total stations, data collectors and automatic levels in small groups.
• Work with the latest versions of industry software from Autodesk, Micro Survey CAD, AutoCAD Map and Civil3D.
• Using topographic data create plans for a new community, a registered plan of a subdivision and engineering drawings for a new development.
• Gather data using the very latest survey field equipment, GPS/GIS technology.
• Graduates are eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
