Course overview This economics and business management degree focuses on developing your practical business skills and your in-depth knowledge of the economic issues facing modern society, so you graduate equipped with the qualities that employers seek.
You'll have opportunities to gain real-world business experience, which coupled with studying diverse topics like business enterprise, global marketing, human resources and technology management, ensure you'll be prepared for life after your degree. Teaching methods Your modules are taught via lectures and seminars. Work placement Get career ready with a work placement and leave as a confident professional in your field. You can choose to spend 12 months working in any organisation in the world, and receive University support from our dedicated team to secure your dream placement. Work placements take place between stages 2 and 3.
You'll gain first-hand experience of working in the sector, putting your learning into practice and developing your professional expertise. Our current placement students are in roles such as: private markets analyst student analyst tax compliance intern international CRM analytics intern trade counter demand planner They are working on the following projects: measuring the success of The Body Shop’s loyalty card and analysing the impact of new product development launches managing the supply chain into and out of the trade counters, reviewing sales rates, and forecasting stock requirements at Screwfix sourcing due diligence on behalf of UBS’s private market investments analysing government data, including the analysis of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) indicators, and comparing the UK to other OECD countries for the NHS If you choose to take a work placement, it will extend your degree by a year.
Placements are subject to availability. Study abroad Experience life in another country by choosing to study abroad as part of your degree. You’ll be encouraged to embrace fun and challenging experiences, make connections with new communities and graduate as a globally aware professional, ready for your future. You may choose to spend a year abroad as part of your degree in one of our partner institutions. Alternatively, you may apply to spend Stage 2 studying economics at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands for a year.
