The Diploma in Jewellery Design programme at Raffles College of Higher Education encourages creativity of commercially viable and ecologically friendly jewellery – through conceptualization, innovation, originality, technical skills and professionalism at all levels. Close ties with industry also give the student a strong sense of ‘reality’ and realization of career prospects for the future.
Students will experience a broad-based, diagnostic curriculum – grasping fundamental investigational, analytical and problem solving design skills through a project based, modular system – which also encourages the investigation and understanding of varying materials, introduced to creative process, emphasis on applications for use in Jewellery design. Concurrently, students will explore Design and Cultural issues through Art & Design History and Theory modules and also generic modules, using 2D and 3D software applications for Jewellery Design.
The programme objectives are delivered through lectures, seminars, case studies, studio workshops and tutorial feedback with a range of assessment methods including fundamental research and project work, presentations, written assignments and examinations.
