About Program

The SUTD PhD Programme offers you a chance to collaborate with the best minds in their fields and conduct breakthrough research that will make a difference to the world. Our fluid, stimulating and open setting creates an environment which places a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and collaborative research and provides opportunities for industry internships, overseas research attachments and teaching experience.

Upon enrolment, students will pursue a PhD under these academic tracks:

Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) – focusing on sustainable architectural and urban solutions to meet the present and future needs of buildings and cities
Engineering Product Development (EPD) – focusing on innovative technology-intensive products that span multiple disciplines
Engineering Systems and Design (ESD) – focusing on large-scale complex systems whose performance and function depend on their technology and socio-economic context
Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) – focusing on information systems that interact with the physical world, humans and machines
Science, Mathematics and Technology (SMT) – focusing on wide-ranging, interdisciplinary research that is grounded in Science and Math fundamentals and with practical applications
Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) – focusing on understanding social and technological transformations through empowering lenses of humanities and social sciences

Students who successfully complete the programme will graduate with a Doctor of Philosophy degree under the same academic pillar.

Syarat Pendaftaran

English Language Proficiency
- TOEFL (No minimum score required, but only scores obtained in the two years leading up to the application will be considered. You should indicate 7216 (SUTD Institutional Code) on your TOEFL registration forms, so that the scores will be sent directly to SUTD)
- IELTS (No minimum score required, but only scores obtained in the two years leading up to the application will be considered)
- PTE Academic (No minimum score required, but only scores obtained in the two years leading up to the application will be considered)
Academic Score/Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree (a Bachelor’s degree in any relevant subjects area with excellent academic standing. For non-English documents, an official English translation must be provided (at your expense))
- Master Degree (a Master's degree in any relevant subjects area with excellent academic standing. For non-English documents, an official English translation must be provided (at your expense))

Profil

The SUTD community takes pride in being bold, taking risks and challenging the norms. Each day, students are pushed to their highest potential, designing solutions to society’s pressing needs through work and play. Paired with an environment that sparks the entrepreneurial spirit, many of these solutions have even entered the commercial market.

Collaboration is a distinctive, core trait of the SUTD curriculum. Like in the working world, students are required to work together across modules and pillars (specialties) in their day-to-day learning experiences. The collaborative spirit even stretches outside of school. Students work on their own projects with their seniors and juniors to improve just about anything around them. To bring their solutions to the real world, students can participate in various programmes and competitions to win seed funding and boost their own startups.

At SUTD, every student is encouraged to bring their ideas to life, to embrace failures as learning experiences and work together to bring value to society.
