According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook Service, there is very strong future growth predicted for people working as sports coaches, instructors and officials. They predict there will be around 28,000 job openings in this large occupation over the next five years.
In this course you'll cover coaching fundamentals including how to plan and deliver coaching programs for high-performing athletes. You'll also be introduced to the area of sports development and discover how to design, deliver and manage a range of community sport and recreation activities for the general public. You'll also develop essential industry skills including managing risk, leading and managing people, and maintaining workplace health and safety.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a coach or sports development manager across a diverse range of settings.

The successful achievement of this qualification requires you to complete all core and 9 elective units from the list below.
Sports Academy Programs - Electives
You will also be required to undertake 120 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.
Focus on Coaching - Electives
You will also be required to undertake 60 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.
Focus on Fitness - Electives
You will also be required to undertake 80 hours of vocational placement in an approved setting.
Assessment Methods
Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
