Guided by its vision to be a global university of educational excellence, UTAR is highly reputed as one of the fastest growing private higher education institutions in the country with phenomenal growth in all aspects of its development since its inception. With the first intake of only 411 students in its Petaling Jaya campus in 2002, the University’s enrolment has now reached about 22,000 students with campuses located in Kampar, Perak and Bandar Sungai Long, Selangor.

Recognised Qualification
All study programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). Professional recognition is being actively sought from leading professional bodies for the relevant professional-related programmes. This enables students to acquire additional internationally-recognised qualifications by professional bodies. UTAR is constantly enhance its programmes by working closely with industry advisors and external examiners from other world-class universities.
Affordable Fees
UTAR as a non-for-profit university in Malaysia ensures our programme fees are affordable for all. For Malaysian students, we have financial aid to support the financial-needy students to continue their higher education as well as scholarships to students excel academically or in sport/talent.
Global Exposure
UTAR's collaboration with numerous university partners and industry partners worldwide gives our students opportunities to experience global exposure through study abroad programmes, study tours, conferences and research projects - to name a few. Credit transfer options are available through the student exchange programmes.
Industrial Exposure
All undergraduate students will undergo industrial training for experiential learning. UTAR also work closely with industry partners to launch the work-based learning programmes in where students will to learn on the university campus for 2 years and undergo 1 year of hands-on practical learning at the premise of our industry partner. For postgraduate studies, we invite the guest speaker from industries as well as arrange consultancy trips to international organisations.
Holistic Student Development
We encourage students to take part in extracurricular activities such as community services, student entrepreneurship activities, sports and other character building events. Ambitious students can participate in the UTAR Undergraduate Research Scheme (URS) which allows them to be trained to conducted scientific research and work with our researchers on a real project. Participation in extracurricular activities organised by clubs and societies, UTAR Soft Skills Development Certificate (USSDC) and UTAR CARE Programme, all these will enhance their soft-skills and strengthen their characters.

UTAR's dedicated, resourceful and approachable lecturers and professors are qualified with extensive experiences in teaching and learning. Classroom learning is supplemented by experiential learning through practical sessions, final-year projects, compulsory industrial attachment, talks and seminars by industry experts. UTAR focuses on preparing students for a career in a globalised world. 95% of UTAR graduates are employed within 9 months after graduation (as at 2020). UTAR alumni work in multinational and SME companies in Malaysia and overseas.
International Student Support
As a melting pot of nationalities, UTAR makes a concerted effort to develop initiatives that enhance the international student experience. UTAR assists international students throughout their time at the University, from enrolment to graduation. Among the services provided by UTAR are a'meet and greet' session at the airport for incoming first-year students and assistance with housing arrangements. The University hosts orientation programmes that include events and activities aimed at fostering new student networking.
UTAR ensures the safety and security of its students on campus and cares for them through a variety of awareness campaigns on topics such as emergencies, stress management, and first aid. Additionally, students may seek emotional or personal assistance from licensed counsellors through the University's confidential counselling services.
