The University of Rhode Island (URI) is a public research institution based in Kingston, Rhode Island with a reputation for pioneering research. URI is a research-driven university, producing both a high quality and quantity of research output. It is the land-grant university of the State of Rhode Island and receives significant annual funding which it invests strategically in infrastructure and cutting-edge learning resources.
The university offers 103 undergraduate programs and 78 graduate programs, spanning nine academic colleges. The enrolled population is a diverse and multinational community of learners, representing 48 out of 50 U.S. states and more than 75 countries globally, numbering around 14,500 students.
In addition to URI’s Kingston main campus, the university has three specialist satellite campuses in Providence, Narragansett and West Greenwich. The main campus is an architecturally landscaped site, which includes historic granite buildings, plenty of green space and the beautiful URI Botanical Gardens. There are superb athletics and recreational facilities available to students, and the university has a strong competitive sporting culture with 16 intercollegiate, Division I sports teams.
