Accounting
Become a financial expert by choosing an Accounting major. Your specialist knowledge will help inform better business decisions for companies in Australia and overseas.
Whether you pursue a career as an accountant or business analyst, auditor or financial adviser, your skills will be sought after across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
After developing a solid grounding in business in your first year, customise your degree with a major in Accounting. By completing all units in this major, you are eligible for admission into the CPA Program. Students wanting to be eligible for the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand Program must also complete Taxation Law and Practice and Auditing as part of their undergraduate course. Graduates with an Accounting major can gain employment in accounting practices, medium and large corporations, the public sector and not-for-profit organisations.
Accreditation and professional recognition
VU's Accounting major is accredited by CPA Australia, one of the world's largest accounting bodies, and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), a worldwide network of finance leaders.
CPA Australia offers membership to VU students upon graduation when the appropriate sequence of units is completed. Complete the same units and you can also gain entry into the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) Chartered Accountants Program, with the addition of the Taxation Law and Practice and Auditing units.
