Skills gained through the study of Finance can translate into a variety of career fields in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Students graduating from Walsh University's Finance program will be prepared to begin working in a business firm or financial services or to enter a graduate program.
A wide range of experiential learning opportunities, including Walsh's Student Managed Investment Portfolio (SMIP) and CFA student investment team, offer students real-world applications of the coursework.

Experiential "hands-on" learning is threaded throughout the Finance curriculum. In addition, Finance majors will be required to complete a minimum of a three-credit-hour internship in the Finance field. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Student Managed Investment Portfolio (SMIP) through which they work in teams and gain hands-on experience in the world of financial trading using real funds that have been donated by Walsh University board members. In addition, students can join Walsh's CFA student investment team with opportunities to network with top financial professionals and compete in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of Cleveland's Global Investment Research Challenge. Walsh's team earned second-place honors in the CFA's 2015 competition.
