Walsh University's Sports Management degree program is designed to provide students with the academic preparation and practical training for success in the sports industry, which includes the production, facilitation, promotion, and organization of any activity, experience or business focused on fitness, recreation, sports tourism or leisure. According to Forbes magazine, by the end of 2019, the sports market in North America is expected to reach $73.5 billion.
The Sports Management major includes an internship of 12 credit hours and with close proximity to the Hall of Fame, Indians, Browns, Cavs, Akron Rubberducks, and Canton Charge, exciting opportunities are in reach.
Experiential "hands-on" learning is implemented throughout the Sports Management curriculum. Each student will be required to complete a co-op with a partnering sports organization. This will allow students to apply and expand their skills to real-world problems. Our business students have interned at organizations including the Professional Football Hall of Fame, Cleveland Cavaliers, and more.
The sports industry is one of the largest in the United States and has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. Graduates of Walsh University's Sports Management program will be prepared for different roles in sports organizations.
