Our registered nurse programme for the child branch is underpinned by The Nursing and Midwifery Council new national educational standards – Future Nurse Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses (2018). This ensures that you will be qualified with knowledge and skills to deliver safe and effective care, which is responsive to the changing climate in children and young people’s nursing.
Children’s nurses play a pivotal role in acute and community healthcare settings. A family-centred care approach underpins interventions aimed at health prevention, promotion, detection of illness and implementing evidence-based care, which acknowledges key differences pertinent to the child and young person.
As a children’s nurse you will develop expert communication skills and an understanding of cognitive development and how this influences both childhood perception of illness and care delivery.
You need to be highly committed, patient and have a caring and compassionate manner. If you want to be a part of the journey that shapes and influences the health of our future generations, apply to be a children’s nurse.
Financial supportFrom September 2020, all nursing degree students will receive at least £5,000 a year with up to £3,000 additional funding available.
