Learn by doing - that’s Pittsburg State University, also known as PSU or Pitt State. PSU was originally founded in 1903 as the Auxiliary Manual Training Normal School, and now provides over 200 different academic programs ranging from music to engineering technology.
Located in Pittsburg, Kansas, a midwestern U.S. state, Pittsburg State University is situated in a vibrant and welcoming community of 20,000 people, featuring a variety of housing options, public transportation, community fairs and festivals, as well as local restaurants and businesses that embrace international students and cultural diversity. Pittsburg actively supports the Pitt State Gorillas (PSU is home to the only Gorilla mascot in the country), so students feel at home no matter where they are in the city.
Programs are spread over four main academic colleges which are: the College of Arts and Sciences; the Kelce College of Business; the College of Education; and the College of Technology. There is also the Honors College for high-achieving students, and the Graduate School and Continuing Studies.
PSU is home to around 6,800 students with over 300 international students from more than 42 countries. The international student graduation rate is almost 100 per cent. The university boasts excellent job placement rates and high average starting salaries.
Students receive a personalized education at PSU. The average undergraduate class has 17 students and is taught by faculty who are experts in their field.
