Vision
It is an insight, view, or ability to see at the core of the problem in the development of the Indonesian Literature Department so that it continues to exist, be innovative, and productive under the umbrella of "Excellent, Independent, and Cultured". That is, academic excellence, independent and competitive institutions, and expertise, as well as a culture of Indonesian linguistics and literature that cares about Indonesian linguistic and literary issues. Academic excellence means quality in the implementation of the Tridarma of Higher Education and as a center for research, development, and dissemination of Indonesian linguistic and literary knowledge. Independent and competitive institutions and expertise means having independent and competitive capabilities in developing a management system for the Indonesian Literature department, both human resources, institutions, and department outputs. Finally, having a linguistic and literary culture that cares about Indonesian linguistic and literary issues means upholding Indonesian linguistic and literary cultural values which are based on the values of honesty and academic truth.
Mission
Based on the vision of "academic excellence, independent and competitive institutions, and expertise, as well as a culture of Indonesian linguistics and literature that cares about Indonesian linguistic and literary issues", the department's mission is formulated so that all components of the department get involved and move together according to their main tasks. each so that what is programmed by the department goes well and maximum results are obtained. The mission of the department is set as follows.
- Organizing a quality Tridarma of Higher Education, which can support the process of change and progress of the Indonesian nation, especially in the fields of Indonesian language and literature;
- Improving the quality of graduates in accordance with the demands of development needs and the job market as well as carrying out the foundation for the formation of character and personality, national spirit, and mastery of Indonesian language and literature and the latest technology.
- Prepare graduates to become members of the community who have academic and or professional abilities who are able to apply, and develop Indonesian language and literature, cutting-edge technology, and or cultural arts;
- Prepare graduates who have a social responsibility, sensitivity, and concern for Indonesian linguistic and literary issues
