HDip in International Master's Pathway - Academic Discourse and Skills

About Program

The International Master’s Pathway (IMP) is aimed at the pre-master’s student seeking to meet the required academic qualification and/or the English language level for automatic progression to their chosen destination programme. The IMP is open to conditional offer holders for participating programmes.
We have built an academic programme around the International Master's Pathway so that you will work towards a Level 8 Major Award: the Higher Diploma in Academic Discourse and Skills. The 60-credit Higher Diploma consists of Language Centre core modules in academic discourse and skills (worth 40 credits), and final-year undergraduate modules (worth 20 credits) from your chosen master's programme.
Successful completion of the pathway will enable you to convert to a full offer by raising your undergraduate level by one class (3:0 to 2:2 or 2:2 to 2:1) and/or language level by the equivalent to one band of IELTS (IELTS 5.5 to 6.5 or 6.0 to 7.0) for example.

Founded in 1845, University College Cork (UCC) has an excellent reputation. It caters for around 24,000 students, of which around 4,000 are international. Every year, students from over 104 countries are welcomed through the doors of this friendly university, into a supportive atmosphere.

The city of Cork is one of the best places in the world to study. Recently named as a UNESCO Learning City, it is one of Ireland’s most recognisable cities. It is bristling with both business and culture, and surrounded by beautiful landscapes. It is well connected to the rest of Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe making it an excellent place to live and study.

One of the university’s key principals is the promotion of diversity, thought exchange and career ambition. UCC is rated in the top 2 per cent of universities worldwide, (Sunday Times) and has also been ranked the number one university in Ireland for student experience.

UCC has been voted as the Sunday Times Irish university of the year for a record-breaking five times.
