OverviewEngineering is the design, construction and operation of structures, machines and systems using established scientific principles. Engineers put scientific knowledge to practical use, serving a critical role in today's increasingly complex world. The Pre-Engineering program provides the appropriately prepared student with the first year toward completion of a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
You will need three to four more years of study to earn your bachelor’s degree, depending on the engineering discipline you select. Most engineering degrees require five years of study. SuccessYou should be creative, inquisitive, analytical and detail oriented with excellent math skills. You should be able to work as part of a team and to communicate well, both orally and in writing. Communication abilities are also important because you will often interact with specialists in a wide range of fields outside engineering.
